Welcome to the Franklin and Nixon Schools' Computer Lab Website. My name is Georgia Grant and I am the computer teacher at Franklin School on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and I am at Nixon School on Thursday and Friday. Check back often to see what's going on in the labs!
If at any time you have any questions or concerns, please call me at school or e-mail me at ggrant@roxbury.org and I will get back to you as soon as I am available.
May News in the Labs
The kindergarteners are learning to use grade level software and websites that coordinate with classroom instruction. The children enjoy using the Smartboard and working with a lot of exciting programs in the lab.
The first graders are using various software, websites and completing word processing projects that focus on various topics and seasonal events. They are typing sentences on the computer and learning about capitalization, spacing, punctuation and correcting mistakes. We will continue to practice keyboarding skills and sentence writing in the "Read, Write and Type" program.
The second graders are working on power point slide shows on their favorite activities in second grade.
The third graders will complete a favorites spreadsheet graph and we will continue to practice keyboarding skills with the "Type to Learn 4" individualized program.
The fourth graders will create timelines about the "History of Computers." Then we will create a favorites graph step by step in "Microsoft Excel." We will continue to practice keyboarding skills with the "Type to Learn 4" individualized program.
Reminder: All new students to Roxbury and all Kindergarteners need to return acceptable use policies so they will be able to access internet websites that we visit in class.
